High bar squats on Monday absolutely destroyed me... I dont like it when people blame their leverages to disguise either their own lack of resourcefulness in training or just a straight up absence of maximum consistent effort, but objectively, high bar and convenientional will always be significantly weaker for me than low bar and sumo, regardless of how much work I put in. I'm very proud of the progress I've made in both HB and conventional in total, but I'm sure as hell glad that powerlifting and leverages give you options, because damn... I'm trash at hb and conventional LOL.
Anyway, deadlifts have been kind of stalling for me, which is... discouraging because it's supposed to be my "best" lift, but my squats have always shown the most consistent progress out of anything, albeit very slow and steady at times.
Anyway high bar was supposed to be 375x5x5 this week but that didnt happen even remotely LOLLL
Deadlifts looked and felt decent, but I just cant shake the feeling of unfamiliarity with the movement for some reason... maybe I'm just thinking too much and overcomplicating things, but deadlifts haven't really felt Amazing in a long time.
Paused squats were from today and they were pretty decent.
I feel like we often get caught up in just trying to hit bigger numbers all the time but... I'm a big believer of the fact that powerlifting is more than just rushing to hit bigger numbers every training session and the mentality behind a healthy view of progression is one that seems to elude a lot of powerlifters nowadays... especially the new people coming in just from having been motivated by seeing somebody move some big ass weight and wanting to do the same some day. My progression is slow at times and requires painstaking dedication, but I enjoy the process in it's entirety, not just when it rewards me, and I like that I feel that way
