Let’s set aside for a moment the fact that I’m swooning over the RAINBOW HAIR!! 🌈🌈
I need to address why exactly it thrills me when my boys ask to have colored hair. And they always ask. This rainbow request was Cameron’s for the last day of school. Connor (of course) eagerly followed suit.
When I was drying Cam’s hair after we finished, he commented that sometimes, when he wears his rainbow socks, boys at school will point and say ‘Eww!! Your socks are so GAY!!’ Cameron’s counter logic is ‘If you saw a rainbow in the sky, would you say the same thing?’ It makes my heart burst with pride when one of my boys, via their true, inborn nature and understanding, COMPLETELY DISPELS the notion that colors have gender. Or that toys are only boy or girl toys. Or movies or sports or whatever. We talk a lot about how a persons hair color in no way defines anything about them other than a love of color and brightness and fun. We have tried hard to allow our boys especially, to grow up without the restrictions of labeling things as only being appropriate for one gender or another, and it makes me really happy to see their understanding also include the fact that anyone can fully enjoy
something as amazing as the color spectrum. Or even a fuzzy unicorn onesie. I’m looking at you, Jackson. 🦄 #kidswithcoolhair #rainbowhair #kidshair #pulpriot #kidswithstyle
