Today is , 81% of men said they would feel too embarrassed to seek help for a mental health problem.
Men are burdened under the pressure to be a 'perfect man' .
The expectations on the 'modern man' include:
1. Being a good father - the emphasis on being a family man, from taking the kids to football or dance, to cooking dinner and putting them to bed.
2. Having a successful career - being a successful man is often linked to how successful a career he carves and is also linked with materialism, e.g. car, clothes, home, etc.
3. Looking good - the growth of the markets for male-grooming products and the emphasis in the media on male body image are evidence of a greater need for men to adhere to an arbitrary standard of beauty.
4. Cultural norms have been attributed to fan toxic masculinity , such as “men do not show pain”, “men should not cry/smile” or “men should not be afraid” continue to be passed down generations .
All these useless pressure leads to life killer and tragic mental health .
Male suicide is the biggest killer of men under 50.This pressure on men is not doing any good , but it's leading to a bad society in a whole .
It's time to change .
So men , Remember : It's not necessary to man up. It's not necessary tough it out.
But it's necessary to find true strength instead. Show your vulnerability. Stop faking macho bullshit.
It's time to raise awareness by breaking down gender stereotypes and opening up about problems, in order to create a happier, less judgmental environment.
